Bob E. Mottin

Bob E. Mottin of Ellisville, Missouri, formerly of Cuba, was born to the union of Clarence and Mabel (Foelsch) Mottin on Saturday, July 12, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri. He left from this life, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Gambrill Gardens in Ellisville at the age of 93 years. Bob was united in marriage to Rita Virginia Wilt on June 15, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union three children were born; Robert, Susan and Donald. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He earned the Victory Medal, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific (3 Stars) and the Philippine Liberation (2 Stars). Bob was a retiree of Ford Motor Company after thirty years of dedicated service. He was a longtime parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of Indian Hills Men's Club. Bob was a gentle and loving craftsman. He would spend hours woodworking in his shop and shared his works of art with others. He enjoyed living at Indian Hills and bowling with his friends. Bob was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Mabel (Foelsch) Mottin; wife of fifty-seven years Rita Virginia (Wilt) Mottin; infant son Donald Mottin; one brother Glenn Mottin; one sister Jane Rotondo and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his two children Robert Leo and wife Barbara Mottin of Chesterfield, Missouri, Susan Kay and husband Raymond Wicks of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandchildren Julie Christine and husband William Hannah of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Brian and wife Maureen Mottin of Ellisville, Missouri; four great-grandchildren Victoria, Claire, Andrew and Jacob; one nephew Kenneth Rotondo of Saratoga Springs, New York; cousins and many friends. Visitation will be Monday, January 22, 2018 from 3:00 till 6:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Rich Boever as the celebrant. Interment, prayers and full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. The family wishes to thank the staff at Gambrill Gardens for their loving care. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Indian Hills Men's Club. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Mottin family.
