Betty L. Luke

July 19, 1931 — May 25, 2020

Betty L. Luke of Cuba, Missouri was born Sunday, July 19, 1931 at Berryman, Missouri to the union of William and Mamie (Nee: Haffer) Emerson. She left from this life, surrounded by family, on Monday, May 25, 2020 at her home in Cuba at the age of 88 years.

Betty was united in marriage to Bob Luke on Friday, December 29, 1950 at Pocahontas, Arkansas, and they became the proud parents of Bobby Jr., Gary, Monty and Jason.

Betty worked thirty years for Cuba Walmart. She enjoyed being a cashier, because she could talk to everyone. She retired in 1995 for two years and then she went back to work and retired the second time in 2017. She earned many awards during her thirty years at Walmart. She was a member of the Cuba Free Will Baptist Church for fifty-one years and served as song leader for many years.

Betty loved to crochet and made things for every room of their home. She would also share her love of crocheting by making things for others. She loved spending time in the kitchen baking, cooking and canning.

Betty and Bob enjoyed traveling. What she truly treasured most in life was God, family, and friends.

Betty was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, sister-in-law and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Mamie Emerson, one great grandson Kory, one brother Frank and wife Jean Emerson; two sisters Beulah and husband Clifford Breeden, Dorothy and husband Joseph Gaska; brothers-in-law Bob Douglas and Jim Harding and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving husband of sixty-nine years Bob Luke of the home; four sons Bobby, Jr. and wife Kim Luke of Cuba, Gary and wife Leann Luke of Cuba, Monty and wife Sue Luke of Cuba, Jason and wife Jean Luke of Steelville; twelve grandchildren Kristina Luke of Cuba, Heather and husband Eric Nelson of St. Louis, Bobby Luke, III of St. Louis, Amy Luke, Jeremy Luke of St. Louis, Jennifer Granda of St. Louis, Lindsey and husband Johnny DeClue of St. Clair, Missouri, Joshua Luke of Cuba, Mandy Luke of Texas, Lynn and wife Kristi Moses of Potosi, Kim and husband Bob Snyder of Bixby and Bradley and wife Lola Moses of Arizona; seventeen great grandchildren Magnolia, Beatrice, Madilyn, Kyle, Molly, Rachel, Claudia, Darcy, Audrey, Raeleigh, Jonathon, Callie, Dawson, Emily, Eli, Jacob and Damon; one great-great grandchild Kylee; one sister Francis Harding of Cuba, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Fields officiating. Special recorded music will be "Precious Memories", "Farther Along", "I Believe", "If We Never Meet Again".

Interment and prayers will follow at the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cuba Free Will Baptist Church, 707 W Myrtle Street, Cuba in Betty's memory.
