Barrett M. 'Barry' Houseman

October 9, 1946 — April 15, 2017

Barrett M. "Barry" Houseman of Cuba, Missouri was born October 9, 1946 at Chesterfield, Missouri to the union of Marion and Alice (nee: Miller) Houseman and left from this life on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his home in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 70 years. Barry proudly served in the United States Army from 18 April 1967 till 30 March 1969. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Sharp Shooter M-14 and the Driver Wheel Badge. On April 7th, 1979 Barry was united in marriage to Carolyn M. Buettner and they are the proud parents of Allison, Brian, Kelli and Matthew. Barry worked for twenty plus years at Echo Supply in Cuba and for the last ten years he worked as a meat cutter and shelf stocker at Mace's Supermarket. In his spare time he enjoyed deer, squirrel and mushroom hunting, fishing and being outdoors. What he loved most in life was spending time with his family and friends. Barry was a devout member and former deacon of the Faith Chapel Assembly of Cuba for the last thirty eight years. Barry is preceded in death by his parents Marion and Alice Houseman, two brothers-in-law Jim Spurgeon and David Buettner and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of thirty eight years Carolyn M. Houseman of the home, four children Allison and husband Jason Fuller of Cuba, Brian and wife Rhonda Bennett of Cook Station, Kelli and husband Chris West of Leasburg and Matthew Bennett and companion Amy Brown of Cuba, fourteen grandchildren Warren Broadaway of Arkansas, Amrah Broadaway of St. Louis, Darrah Broadaway of Leasburg, Kyle Broadaway of St. Louis, Tiffany Broadaway of Sullivan, Devin Payne of Leasburg, Brandon Coleman of Leasburg, Jessica Bennett of Steelville, Courtney Bennett of Cook Station, Rachel Bennett of Cuba, Noah Bennett of Cuba, Hailey Bennett of Cuba, Jade Hackett of Lincoln, Illinois and Joshua Fuller of Cuba, six great grandchildren, two sisters Burdett Lee of Union and Betty Spurgeon of Owensville, one brother-in-law Pastor Larry and wife Mary Buettner of Cuba, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Larry Buettner officiating. Special recorded music will be "Amazing Grace", "Wind Beneath My Wings". "Peace in the Valley" and "Precious Memories". Interment, prayers and full military honors will follow at the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Faith Chapel, 63 McLeod, Cuba, in Barry's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Barry's family.
