Alice Georgia Lucash was born on Oct. 25, 1926 in New Athens, Illinois to parents Hilda (Bretsch) & Henry Ziegler. Alice passed away on September 13, 2026 at Stratford Memory Care in Overland Park, KS at the age of 99.

Alice was married to Cyril (Cy) Elmer Lucash on January 14, 1948 in Freeburg, IL. Alice worked through the years as a teacher, secretary, and volunteer. After Cy's retirement, the couple moved from Peoria, IL to Cuba, MO where Alice was very active in Holy Cross Church and school. She participated in the Church choir, Lady Knights, Altar Society, school lunch & library programs, Friday fish fries, Funeral dinners, and tithing books.

In 2018 Alice moved to an assisted living facility in Kansas City, where she spent 5 years before moving to memory care in Overland Park, KS and there she spent the last 3 years of her life. We are grateful to the compassionate caretakers at Stratford Memory Care, and Monarch hospice care that worked to keep her comfortable.

The family will always cherish the holiday visits to the Ozark home and acreage with Alice. Memories include walks to the creek and the surrounding woods, stacking firewood for the furnace, lots of food, puzzles, games, a healthy dose of chaos, and her "famous" decorated sugar cookies, which usually generated a competition between grandkids to see who could sneak the most cookies before (and after) mealtime.

Alice was a happy soul who did not complain. She was strong physically and mentally. She was confident, stubborn, frugal and had SPUNK. She was an independent free spirit and didn't let others tell her what she could or couldn't do, ie: purchase a new 4 wheel drive full size SUV at the age of 75. She often talked of her childhood memories of toe dancing on a stage for corporate events in St Louis. As a teenager, she was transported by school bus to Scott Airforce Base in Bellville, IL to dance with soldiers who were deploying to World War Il destinations (many to never return home). Like anyone from her generation, she grew up during the Great Depression and was a part of "The Greatest Generation."

Alice is preceded in death by her husband Cy, brother Russel Ziegler, sons Christopher (Alisa), Michael (Joyce) & great-grandson Jacob Lucash.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Hudson (David) of Stilwell, KS; son, Kevin Lucash of Columbia, MO; Mark (Connie) Lucash of Oklahoma City, OK; 9 grandchildren, 1 step grandson, 13 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
