Albert James 'Al' Grubbs

May 24, 1950 — March 2, 2017

Albert "Al" James Grubbs of Owensville, Missouri was born to the union of Omer H. and Helen E. (Pellegrini) Grubbs on May 24, 1950 in Pensacola, Florida and he left from this life on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his home at the age of 66 years. Al received his Bachelor of Science degree from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. He then entered the United States Navy and served his country honorably, as a Lt. Commander during the Vietnam War. His chosen career and passion was in aviation. Over the years he served as a pilot for Win Dixie, Allegiant Airlines, TWA and later retiring from American Airlines in 2015. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Al is preceded in death by his parents Omer H. and Helen E. (Pellegrini) Grubbs; one brother Eddie Grubbs and one sister Christina Grubbs. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his wife Sherry L. Rennier of the home; one daughter Andrea and husband Benito Rodriguez of Warren, Oregon; two step-daughters Gabrielle Bilbrey of Alton, Illinois and Melissa Bilbrey of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandsons Benito and Elliott; two sisters Pauline Mattaliano and Peggy Murray both of Trenton, New Jersey; four nephews, two nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many friends. A private service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society-Hope Lodge 4215 Lindell Blvd. St. Louis, Missouri 63108. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Grubbs family.
