Robert H. Klem of St. James, Missouri was born August 14, 1925 at Belleville, Illinois to the union of Edward and Grace (Nee: Krietner) Klem and left from this life on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri at the age of 88 years. Robert was united in marriage to Laverne Logan on January 30, 1954 at East St. Louis, Illinois and to this union five children were born; Judy, Louise Ann, Carole, Rob and Jeff. Robert proudly served in the United States Army and the United States Merchant Marines. Robert was a Stag Beer truck driver for many years working at Fairmount and Cahokia Downs before he retired. He lived in the desert for twenty years and he always enjoyed going fishing. He spent hours painting scenery on rocks and the last several years family was the most important thing to Robert. Robert was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Robert is preceded in death by his parent Edward and Grace Klem, brother Bill Klem, sister Marie Gain and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his wife Laverne Klem, three daughters Judy and husband Brad Auer of Smithton, Illinois, Louise Ann Klem of Belleville, Illinois and Carole and husband Steven Casperson of Highland, Illinois, two sons Rob and wife Denise Klem of Cuba and Jeff and wife Megan Klem of Golden, Colorado, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In keeping with Robert's wishes he was cremated and no public services will be held at this time. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Klem family.
