Lawrence M. Elrod

November 19, 1929 — June 25, 2020

Lawrence M. Elrod of Cuba, Missouri was born on Tuesday, November 19, 1929 in Vienna, Missouri to the union of William "Bill" and Catherine (Nee: Franklin) Elrod. He left from this life on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri at the age of 90 years.

Lawrence was united in marriage to Marlene Cox on Tuesday, November 7, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas, and they became the proud parents of Larry and Michael.

Lawrence graduated from Belle High School and then went on to graduate from Lincoln University with a Bachelors' Degree in Education.

He served his country honorably in United States Army during the Korean War from 1949 to June 1951.

After many years of teaching English to high school students, Lawrence retired from Crawford County RII School District. After retirement, Lawrence went back to work as a salesman for Jim's Motors and he retired the second time at the age of 70. He was a longtime member and Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Cuba.

He enjoyed spending time and playing pool at the Cuba Senior Center. He was a lifetime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Mission work was something Lawrence enjoyed most. What he truly treasured most in life was spending time with his family and friends.

He was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
