Colleen Jeanette Ray

Colleen Jeanette Ray of Leasburg, Missouri was born Tuesday, December 7, 1926 at Wellston, Missouri to the union of Harold and Jeanette (Nee: Overy) Keogh and left from this life on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Leasburg, Missouri at the age of 88 years. Colleen was united in marriage to James Howard Ray, Sr. on July 7, 1951 at Piggott, Arkansas and to this union four children were born Gina, James, Rini and David. Colleen spent her life taking care of her family and home. She grew a beautiful flower and vegetable garden each year. She spent hours canning during the summer so they would have wonderful vegetables during the winter. Colleen was an excellent cook and could bake the very best cookies, 12th day cake, and donuts. Colleen would invent holidays just so she could cook and have the entire family come over. Colleen babysat and spoiled her grandchildren. She would give them tapioca pudding for breakfast. She was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church of Leasburg since 1976 and would help in the kitchen during Vacation Bible School and other church activities. What Colleen enjoyed most in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Colleen was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, sister-in-law, cousin and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Colleen is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Jeanette Keogh, husband James Howard Ray, Sr., one son David Ray, one granddaughter Traci Ray, two brothers Dicky and Frank Keogh, three brothers-in-law Barney Ray, Bert Ray and Len Ray, sisters-in-law Velma Fife and Mary Alice Land and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy is her loving children Gina and husband Steve Todd of Cuba, James Ray of Leasburg and Rini and husband Jay McClary of Leasburg, eight grandchildren Chris and wife Crystal Ray of Leasburg, Jesse and wife Dessa McClary of Leasburg, Clarissa and husband Jason Troutt of Steelville, Bria and husband Aric Graddy of Leasburg, Nate McClary of Leasburg, Jacob Ray of Leasburg, Monica and husband Dan Hewkin of Cuba and Sheila and husband A.J. Hall of Park City, Utah, fourteen great grandchildren Logan Ray, Devann Ray, Jarren Ray, Kayla Hewkin, Cheyenne Hewkin, Jeremy Hewkin, Nathan Hall, Kathryn Hall, Karlee Troutt, Calvin Troutt, Kymber Troutt, Brice Graddy, Colin McClary and Wren McClary, three brothers Lee and wife Shirley Keogh of Sullivan, Mike and wife Geneva Keogh of Leasburg and Sonny Keogh of Columbia, Missouri, one sister Martha Hardecke of Columbia, Missouri, one brother-in-law Curtis Ray of Leasburg, three sisters-in-law Nannie King of Leasburg, Millie and husband Sylvester Westrich of St. Ann, Missouri and Gertie White of Mississippi, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Cross Roads Baptist Church of Leasburg with Brother Lane Allen officiating. Traditional old hymns to be played before during and after the service. Interment and prayers will follow at the Cross Roads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. Honored to serve as pall bearers will be Chris Ray, Logan Ray, Jacob Ray, Jesse McClary, Nate McClary and Jeremy Hewkin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church of Leasburg in Colleen's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Colleen's family.
